More about the properties and the area
Gardens
Both properties have their own fully enclosed grassed area gardens with outdoor furniture. Beyond these Eliotts main house gardens – a renowned feature of Eliotts – may be used with just a few restrictions. There are over one and a half acres of beautiful informal gardens. We zone the area nearer to the properties as a tranquil sitting out area and the lower level lawn for those with more energy.
Car parking
The properties have parking for two cars each. Eliotts Cottage shares the driveway with the main house.
Eliotts Barn has its own driveway.
Galmpton
Galmpton is a hamlet between Malborough and Hope Cove.
Easy to follow directions will be sent to visitors when a booking is made.
Beaches or walkways
The location is designated an ‘Area of outstanding natural beauty’ with good reason. At Hope Cove, there are sandy beaches and a slipway access to the water. The other nearby sandy beaches are at South Milton, Thurlestone, Soar Cove and Bantham. The spectacular South West Coastal path is there to be enjoyed either for short ambles from various access points or for more serious rambles.
Sailing and boating
Salcombe is well known for its sailing and various businesses hire out dinghies. Most also provide lessons and courses for every ability. We can provide contact numbers on request. There are launching facilities at the public slipways at Inner Hope Cove and at Batson Creek on the estuary at Salcombe.
Necessities
Food and provisions can be bought from the large village Texaco/Coop at Malborough, or from Kingsbridge’s Morrisons or Tescos supermarket, or from genuinely traditional butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, bakers or cheese shops on Kingsbridge’s Fore Street.
Niceties
There is a wealth of places to dine in the area, but you may need our comprehensive notes in the properties to select your particular preference. The information is split up into informal family dining through to better pub, then bistro/restaurant up to more formal lets dress up and splash out locations.
Small, quality shops
Salcombe is unique. Its streets and shops are a pleasure to browse around. Kingsbridge shops tend to serve the local community more and if you know where to look almost anything can be bought there.

In the properties we have tried to provide as much helpful information as possible to enable you to enjoy the beautiful South Hams area from the very first day of your holiday. Helpful hints on the beaches, routes around the area and the following locations are include:

Fully inclusive except for towels
Bring all the personal towels you need, but we do provide tea towels.
For 2011 all linen is provided. The beds all have duvets and additional throws.
For 2011 all the electric is included for heating, lighting and hot water.
For 2011 we provide two large baskets of logs and extra logs can be purchased at cost.
